Data linkage of healthcare records across primary and tertiary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in South East Queensland

  • The Research Alliance for Urban Goori Health (RAUGH) was established as an Australia-first strategic partnership in 2021. This partnership brings together two of the country’s largest urban health services- the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) and the Metro North Hospital and Health Service, together with The University of Queensland (UQ) via the UQ Poche Centre for Indigenous Health (UQ Poche Centre). RAUGH also collaborates closely with Queensland Health. This project aims to link primary care (IUIH members- Moreton ATSICHS and selected services of  ATSICHS Brisbane including Northgate and Woolloongabba only) clients' data with Metro North Health data for the period 2010 to 2022. Eleven data sources will be used for linkage, including hospital-admitted and non-admitted patients, perinatal, death registration, cancer register, mental health, surgery, specialist outpatient, emergency, and notifiable disease conditions. The data linkage team of the Queensland Statistical Service Branch will undertake the data linkage. This retrospective study will build de-identified real-world datasets showing Indigenous people's access, utilisation and healthcare pathways from primary care to tertiary care and vice versa.
